26 Jun 05 - 3 RAFTA Members Racing at Ironman Austria.  Next weekend Paul Breeze, Mat Stephenson and Neill Gowans will race at Ironman Austria.  You can keep track of their progress on the website   http://www.ironmanaustria.at/en/index.htm.

26 Jun 05 - RAF Championships - Dambuster.  The RAF Championships turned out to be a great event with over 30 RAFTA members racing.  This is by far the greatest no. of RAF we have had racing the Olympic distance at the same time.  Well done to Vicky Webb, Mat Stephenson, Bev Childs and Andy Reardon for qualifying to represent Great Britain in this year's ITU World Championships, Honolulu.

26 Jun 05 -  Interservices.  Planning for the Interservices moves on apace.  It was floated that this year's categories would change to having a +40 Vet category instead of a +35 category to align with BTA.  However, this will not not happen until 2006.

19 Jun 05 - Chris Moult almost Puts RAF Tri on the map!

The No 1 Age Grouper at the Royal Windsor Triathlon was listed today as Chris Moult in a remarkable time of 2.00:05.  However, his run time leads us to think that maybe they recorded his time wrong! Nice try Chris!  Ted Hamilton's performance today was noteable with a 2nd place in his age category.  Outstanding Ted! RAFTA usually support Royal Windsor in greater numbers, however, with the RAF Championships taking place at Dambuster next weekend, many have chosen not to race 2 weekends in a row.  A great performance by all those who took part.

13 Jun 05 - Bala Middle Distance - Congratulations to Mat Stephenson with a stunning 16th at the Bala Middle Distance in a time of 4.10.  Way to go Mat!  Good finishes also for Chris Sturgess and Neil Gowans.

  13 Jun 05 - RAF Championships - Dambuster 25 Jun 05.

By now you should have seen the details for the Dambuster Triathlon, either on the www.pacesetterevents.com website or through the post. With the race being the RAF Standard Distance Championships, as well as the selection event for the IS mens teams, there will be a RAFTA race HQ (should be on the grass bank just past registration). We will be housed in one of the new luxurious RAFTA gazebos and there should be a big RAF sign up, so you can't miss us.

Please can those who are racing note the following arrangements:  Immediately after you have registered, please go to the RAF Gazebo.  Prior to the race we need to know who is definitely racing, and who is racing for IS Selection.

After the race, result availability permitting, we intend to present the race trophies, so please meet back at the Gazebo for the presentation.  We should also know who has qualified for the IS teams. It'll also be a good opportunity for a social.

Place Available.  Due to one of our triathletes pulling out, there is the possibility of a place being available at the RAF Champs/IS selection race at the Dambuster triathlon on 25 Jun.  Anyone interested should contact me ASAP on 95771-8056 or mensteammanager raftri.org.uk

Note from our Comms Director, Pete Daulby.  We need to get some good photos of this event as it is our first real opportunity this season to get some good publicity for us and our sponsors, SIMPLER.  We will attempt to do a 36-people group photo once everyone has finished at the Gazebo (particularly if we are waiting for the results!).  We need to be as smart as possible, so please bring with you your polo shirts or fleeces and please bring spares if you have them so we can share them out to those who don't have theirs yet.  If anyone has any relatives coming to watch, get them to take photos of everyone in RAF kit and then please send them to me (OC EOS at RAF St Mawgan).  Why not bring a picnic and make a day of it!

  25 Apr 05 - We're back!

La Santa 2005 was as awesome as a mouse living in a cheese factory.  The 'tourers' might understand the mouse analogy better than most - more in the next edition of triangles!  Most of us completed about 20Km of swimming 400-500Km of bike and 40-80Km of running and now we're truly blitzed! Poor Rosie Phelps had her appendix out on day 3 and went home on day 7; she returned with Brad in tow who also had to return earlier than expected.  Apart from that we all did the distance and by now we should all be back.  Fred was a hero and went to work today on about 2 hrs sleep.  We are looking to go again next year, perhaps in Feb 06.  Stay posted to the web as we'll be asking for names early.

8 Apr 05 - RAF STANDARD DISTANCE CHAMPIONSHIPS - DAMBUSTER

Unfortunately the Dambuster is now full.  However, the good news is that 36 RAFTA members have entered.  This is tremendous and a testament to the huge growth of Triathlon in the RAF.  Last year we got only 12 to the RAF Championships!  The race is also the Interservice Triathlon Selection Race so it should be a good day.  The full entrant list is available at www.onestepbeyond.org.uk.

If you haven't entered, then don't despair, there are plenty of other standard distance races on the RAFTA calendar.

  8 Apr 05 - TOUR ADMIN ORDER

The latest Tour Admin Order has been emailed out to all those attending.  If for any reason you haven't received yours, then please email saggs raftri.org.uk for a copy.
