20 Dec 05 - Change of Chairman.  Gp Capt Fred Harbottle - the 'Grandfather' of RAF Tri is soon to step down as Chairman due to an overseas posting.  He will be sadly missed.  A replacement is currently under consideration by the Sports Board and will be announced soon.

20 Dec 05 - Change of  Kit Manager.
Steve Warner has given his notice that he would like to stand down as  Kit Manager.  This will be a sad loss to RAF Tri as he has done a magnificent job over the last 3 years.  Steve's job has been one of the most demanding and the most frustrating in the committee.  He has worked tirelessly for us all and I'm sure most of us have benefited from his Saucony liaison.  Thanks Steve.

Martin Ball has stepped forward to offer to be the replacement.   His offer has been provisionally accepted but it is subject to the next AGM.  Steve will continue to accept Saucony offers up to Christmas and Martin will take over in the new year.  Martin will be taking the kit raftri.org.uk email address wef 6 Jan 06.

If anyone else would like to volunteer for a committee post in the future, please drop an email to the Pete Daulby at commsdirector raftri.org.uk

20 Dec 05 - AGM and Training Weekend - Saturday 11 Feb 06 at RAF Cosford.  We need maximum attendance at the AGM.  Please, please, please do all you can to be there.  You can claim for your travel on 1771s (please share transport with others from your unit) and there is plenty of accomodation available.  There are a number of major changes to the way RAF Tri does business and you need to be part of it.  To tempt you there you will have first call on the 50 new Polo Shirts that the RAF Lottery has bought for us - more details to follow soon.

12 Dec 05 - RAF Triathlon Standard Distance Championships/Inter-Service Selection

The RAF Triathlon Standard Distance Championships and selection event for the Inter-Service Triathlon will be held once again at the Dambuster Triathlon, Rutland Water on Sat 24 June 2006. Centrally located, this was a great event last year with 35 RAF Triathletes taking part. As it is not a World Championship Qualifier next year, there should not be as great a rush for places, so we want to make it the biggest yet - 50 RAF Triathletes is our aim. Providing we get sufficient numbers, we should also get our own wave. If you've never done an open water race, this will be ideal for you, with loads of RAF Triathletes to give encouragement. Plus, you'll get the race entry fee back and travel can be claimed. And for the chaps, once again, the race will be used to determine selection for the Inter-Services Triathlon. Entries are not open yet, but keep an eye out on www.transitionsport.com.

26 Nov 05 - Henlow 10.  RAF Triathletes were showing the way at the Henlow 10 on Wed 23 November.  Check out the results! (large file - don't attempt without Broadband)

19 Nov 05 - Important.  It has come to our attention that many of our members' details are out of date.  We are about to send out a new copy of Triangles - don't miss out.  Tell Tony Walber your new details at membership raftri.org.uk.

19 Nov 05 - Next Training Weekend and AGM.  Next year's AGM will be held on 11 Feb 06.  This will be held with a training weekend that will run from Friday 10 Feb 06 to Sunday 12 Feb 06.  Put the dates in your diary now.  We need maximum attendance.

19 Nov 05 - Training Weekend 12-13 Nov 05.  What a great weekend we had.  Hopefully Neill has recovered from his Sports Test.  Some Photos here:

2 Nov 05 - Training Weekend Admin Instruction here So far only 10 people have signed up.  This is disappointing guys and gals - come on - it'll be good fun; lets get a few more there.  Sign up with brad raftri.org.uk.  This is a great opportunity to set your off-season training on a good footing.  There will be plenty of time during the weekend to draw up training plans and get all the advice you  need.

9 Oct 05 - World Triathlon Championships, Honolulu, Hawaii

Today is a great day for RAF Triathlon.  As I write we have 7 athletes racing in the World Age Group Triathlon Championships in Honolulu, Hawaii.  If you want to keep tracks on their progress check out www.triathlon.org. One of our world qualifying triathletes is our Chairman, Fred Harbottle is racing in the 50-53 category.  We wish them all well.

Stop Press.  Mat Stephenson has already taken Bronze in the 35-39 age group category in the ITU World Aquathon Championships held on 6 Oct 05.  See http://www2.triathlon.org/age-group/age.txt for more details.  After racing today in the standard distance Triathlon World Championships, Mat will attempt the World Ironman Championships in Kona, Hawaii on 15 Oct 05! You can keep tabs on his progress at www.ironmanlive.com.

  1 Oct 05 - Club La Santa 06 - Admin stuff!

I have sent a number of selection letters to individuals attending the RAF Triathlon Tour 06. The purpose of these letters is to ensure that the superiors of the 'tourists' are aware of the event and, therefore, sanction time off for their staff. Any 'tourists' still requiring a selection letter should e-mail their request to Mark Saggers at sec raftri.org.uk.
