Tour Information:

new addition Sep 07 - 2008 pre-season Tour: Time is ticking by and we need to start organizing the 2008 pre-season tour. Debs Pratley will be running the tour but as she is out of area, Mark Saggers will be starting the process.

There was some talk of changing the venue but as the organizing personnel are busy, it would seem best to keep with what we know. Therefore, we plan to go to Club La Santa, Lanzarote, again early March 08. We will firm up exact dates soon - avoiding half term and Easter. Cost should be around £300. Anyone interested please send Mark Saggers an email through the contacts area. No hard commitment as yet; just trying to gather some names and numbers.

9 Jun 06 - Tour Interest: IM Nice, Jun 07. Please see the News entry >>>

21 Apr 06 - Tour Planning 2007 & 2008, Pete Daulby: Every year, the RAF Sports Lottery partially support RAF Sports Teams to compete abroad. For the last 3 years the RAF Team has competed at La Santa at the beginning of each season. It has been proposed that from 2007 there will be 2 RAF Triathlon Tours per year. Within Royal Air Force Triathlon we compete at 3 distances. It would be unpractical to have 3 tours per year to compete abroad at every distance (Sprint, Standard, Middle/Long). Therefore it has been decided that there will be a Sprint Distance Tour at the beginning of every year; this will generally be La Santa. There will then be a 2nd tour later in the year which will alternate between Long/Middle Distance (Ironman) and Olympic Distance. Personnel will not be able to apply to go on 2 tours in any one year and all attendees must be members of the RAF Sports Lottery to attract Lottery funding. Each tour will have places for a men’s team of 12 and a ladies’ team of 6. The tours for 2007-2008, subject to RAF Sports Board approval, will be as follows:

2007

Mar 07 – Sprint Distance Tour to La Santa, Lanzarote - interested parties can contact Mark on sec raftri.org.uk

Jun 07 – Ironman France, Nice, - interested parties can contact chairman raftri.org.uk

2008

Mar 08 – Sprint Distance Tour to La Santa, Lanzarote. Names will be taken from Apr 07

Oct 08 – Standard Distance Triathlon in Australia. Names will be taken from Dec 07.

Now, if that is not forward planning, I don’t know what is! It is expected that the men’s teams will be over subscribed. However, we are always short of ladies to fill the female slots.
